LAPD Academy Tour: Family Fun!

Get an exclusive behind-the scenes tour of the esteemed Los Angeles Police Academy®, thanks to Princeton alum Lisa Herman-Tofler ‘88.

Date: Friday, June 30
Time: 1-3pm
Cost: $20, supports PCSC Scholarship Fund and LAPD Training Fund

Free parking in the parking lot and on the street next to the academy.

Tour departs promptly at 1pm from the iconic LAPD arch at the top of the parking lot.

What you’ll experience:

  • Tours of the academy at 1:15, 1:45, 2:00 and 2:30
  • FOS-Force Options Simulator: An interactive virtual reality scenario with a simulation gun. A lifesize screen gives you the opportunity to step into a police officer’s shoes and decide which force option to use and when to shoot or not to shoot.
  • Mounted police: Interact with the police horses and talk to the officers who work with them
  • K9 dog demonstration: A K9 bomb dog handler will show how the dog finds a hidden object
  • Underwater dive unit display
  • Motor cop from Central Traffic Division: Ask questions about traffic laws and traffic collisions
  • Patrol cars from the past: Take a picture next to a historic patrol car
  • Police car: Explore a current police cruiser
  • Reserve Unit: Learn about becoming a reserve officer
  • S.W.A.T.: See the equipment up close and hear from a S.W.A.T. officer about the special training and operations of the legendary LAPD S.W.A.T. unit
  • Air support helicopter flyover: An LAPD helicopter will do flyovers close enough to read the side of the door!
